I have Shield Deluxe from Bitdefender and find that it slows my email and internet usage tremendously! I typically click on an email, and wait about 30-60 seconds for it to open. I am constantly getting “Not responding” messages because the response time is so slow. This is true on my office desktop and my laptop. Is there some way to speed this up?

I am currently using Vipre Premium Antivirus software and have no complaints. It does not slow down my computer and completed a full system scan in under 60 minutes (51 minutes to be exact). This is definitely one of the fastest antivirus software on the market.

Based on AV-Comparatives testing for 2010 the fastest antivirus – based on system impact was K7 Total Security from K7 Computing.
I tried few of AV products myself, and went from Kaspersky to ESET, but I finished with K7 Total Security and see no reason to switch to any other. The speed is phenomenal and startup of the system is not affected, neither is performance. (Windows 7, i5 and second PC Windows XP, Core2Duo)

your recommendation are great to help me to understand HOWEVER im still need to find which av are best for small business, personal and pc gaming on my new laptop which have i7, window 7 and are HP i just bought new last week. thanks dude

I can’t speak about the other antivirus programs you tested.
but I can speak about Kaspersky Antivirus 2011.

Our hp laptop came from best buy with this installed in it.
The full system scan would take hours & hours to complete.

If you could not stay at the computer and keep it active for a 24 hour period, the program would not scan when the computer would go into sleep mode.

One time it took days rather than minutes to complete a full system scan.

Next I down loaded the tren micro titanium antivirous.
It takes just as long to scan this computer and then gets stuck @ 99% complete.

There is not much on this computer.
It is less than a year old.
Using an antivirus should not be this hard.

Cloud does not work like that, if you have no internet, Internet Security will still run via the client. There is also a direct update services if the cloud is unavailable.
