Fastest Antivirus Software 2010

Fastest antivirus

So the quest begins for the fastest antivirus software 2010 as I browse through various antivirus software like Norton antivirus, Kaspersky antivirus, ESET Nod32, AVG and more. It can be a very daunting task to decide which is the fastest antivirus software out of all these antivirus programs. As I began my research, I took a diary and noted down all the deep details about various antivirus software to figure out which antivirus software are fast and will not slow down your computer at all.

Fastest Antivirus

Before I continue discussing my test results, let me share some important information. First of all when we say “fast antivirus”, what does that mean? It means, we can say an antivirus software is fast or slow based on two different aspects: Faster complete-scan times and faster real-time scanning. I have tested these antivirus software on both aspects. First I tested the real-time scanning by downloading some files from the internet. Then I ran full system scan to note down the complete scan time. Also, I ran many programs to see if that causes any problems. I ran simple software like Photoimpact, Photoshop, Fireworks, etc. The results were amazing! Also, I should share information about my computer system. I tested these 15 antivirus software on my Sony VAIO laptop: Intel Core dual T5200 @ 1.60GHz x 2, 4 GB RAM, SATA Hard Drive 350 GB. Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium. This is simply an ordinary notebook computer. Also, I ran similar tests on my Dell Server and Dell workstations. By the way, it hardly matters what sort of computer system or operating system it is because we are testing different antivirus software on the same computer. So it doesn’t make any difference whether it is a Windows XP system, Windows Vista system or Windows 7 computer system. Here are the results of my tests:

BitDefender Antivirus
Latest Version: BitDefender Antivirus 2010 (30% off through out September, offer expires September 30th, 2010).
No matter what list are you looking at, whether it is the top ten antivirus list or any other list, you will find the BitDefender antivirus 2010 within the top 3 positions. BitDefender Antivirus is a perfect security solution for home users, small business users and enterprises. The reason why it is the best antivirus is that it is fast and the most economic security solution. The latest 2010 version of BitDefender Antivirus provides faster real-time scanning and faster overall full system scans. BitDefender Antivirus 2010 provides advanced proactive protection against viruses, spyware, phishing attacks and identity theft, without slowing down your PC at all. The abundance of new viruses calls for faster ways to detect them. BitDefender’s Optimized Scanning avoids the scanning of files that are known to be safe. BitDefender 2010 scans your PC in half the time needed by previous versions, while using less resources. To fully test the efficiency, I downloaded the trial version of the BitDefender Antivirus 2010. The installation was a breeze on my notebook computer, however, while installing on my Servers I experienced a little extra configuration that got me paranoid in the beginning but later I realized, it saved me heaps of time. The step-by-step installation is pretty easy, self explanatory. Once installed, I checked it’s efficiency in real time. I downloaded a few files off the internet, tried opening different websites and BitDefender actively kept me warning for potentially harmful websites. I love this feature because people who are not so tech savvy, would be warned of the potentially harmful websites. I ran other lab tests like opening too many programs, running a full system scan, tried playing PC games and I was extremely pleased with the results! The full system scan finished in just below 32 minutes on my notebook computer. Since there is limited software, BitDefender amazed me with its performance. I tried exchanging files between different computers on my local network and didn’t feel any sluggishness at all. My overall experience with BitDefender Antivirus 2010 was extremely satisfactory and I would give it excellent points if I were to rate it! Also, once I made my mind to go with BitDefender Antivirus, I searched for coupons and found that it is on sale through out September 2010. Click here for Bitdefender coupons 30% off in September 2010 and save money on this fastest antivirus software.

ESET Nod32 Antivirus
Latest Version: ESET Nod32 Antivirus 4
I have read great reviews about the speed of ESET antivirus software and have always thought of testing it on my computer systems. I downloaded the trial version of ESET Nod32 antivirus 4 and installed it on my notebook and on my business computers. First I checked it’s efficiency on my personal notebook. I downloaded some files from the internet and tried browsing through various websites. Then I opened hundreds of websites to see if the antivirus software will slow down the computer. I didn’t feel any slowness or sluggishness at all. Then I ran the full system scan to test complete scan time. The test finished in 35 minutes on my notebook computer. Then I tested ESET on my business computers, exchanged some files between server and workstations, downloaded/uploaded files, opened 100s of websites, ran complete system scan and tried a number of things to see how things go. One more thing that I wish to share, ESET antivirus configuration, real-time scanning settings, on-demand scan settings and other settings are very easy to understand. My over all experience with the ESET antivirus trial version was extremely satisfactory. I recommend ESET antivirus to home users, business users and enterprises. When efficiency is what you are looking from your work force, you should trust only the fastest antivirus for your computer(s).

Kaspersky Antivirus
Latest Version: Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 (Up to $20 off in July and Aug 2010)
According to my research and testing, I found Kaspersky to be the second best antivirus software in comparison to other antivirus software. The real-time scanning was extremely fast and I hardly felt any sluggishness at all. Downloading files off the internet were a breeze. Kaspersky antivirus constantly scanned the files in real-time but it did not slow down the computer at all. I also exchanged files between the server computer and workstation computer. I did not find any problems in exchanging (downloading or uploading) files but while exchanging big files, it slowed down a little bit. Then I ran a full system scan on my VAIO notebook computer. The scan took nearly 43 minutes to complete. It is pretty fast as compared to many other antivirus programs. Then I ran the full system scan on my server, once again it amazed me as it finished the scan really fast. Everything worked out fine, Kaspersky is among the fastest antivirus software. I recommend Kaspersky antivirus to home computer users, business computer users and enterprises.

AVG Antivirus 9.0
Latest Version: AVG Antivirus 9.0
Many of you computer geeks will agree with me, AVG is among the fastest antivirus software! I know this because I have used AVG free version in past. I stopped using the AVG free version because it gave me hard time with a virus in past. However, as I tried the paid version, it worked like a charm. First I tested it on my notebook computer and performed all the tests previously discussed. Apart from the slower browsing, nothing else caused any noticeable problems. AVG completed the full system scan in 51 minutes. I performed the same tests on my business computers and found it satisfactory for both: my home computer as well as my business computers. Now you may think, AVG took 51 minutes to complete the full system scan and consider it a slow antivirus software. But this is not true. Most of the other antivirus software like Norton, McAfee, F-Secure, Vipre, Avira, Avast and other popular antivirus software took way more time to complete a full system scan.

Fastest Antivirus Testing

I tested 15 different antivirus software to find out which antivirus software is the fastest. I tested Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, ESET Nod32, F-Secure, Vipre, TrendMicro, AVG, PC Tools, CA antivirus, Bitdefender, Avira, Avast, Zonealarm and Panda antivirus. According to my research, BitDefender Antivirus, ESET Nod32, Kaspersky and AVG antivirus are the fastest antivirus software of 2010. If you have tested any of these antivirus software on your computer, please share your reviews with the community.
